Joachim Sauter / ART+COM

Since the early 1980s, Joachim has been working as a media artist and designer focused on digital technologies and is experimenting how they can be used to express content, form, and narration. Fueled by these interests, he founded ART+COM in 1988 together with other artists, designers, scientists and technologists. Their goal was to practically research this new up-and-coming medium in the realm of art and design. He has been invited to participate in many exhibitions and has shown his work at The Centre Pompidou in Paris, the Venice Biennial, the Stejdilik Museum in Amsterdam, and the Museum for Contemporary Art in Sidney, amongst other prestigious venues. Joachim has received numerous awards including the Cannes Golden Lion, the D&AD Black Pencil, and the Ars Electronica Interactive Award. Since 1991 he has been a full professor for New Media Art and Design at the University of the Arts Berlin and since 2001 he has been an Adjunct Professor at UCLA, Los Angeles.
