Byungjun Kwon

Byungjun began his musical career as a singer-songwriter in the early 1990s. He was the vocalist for the band Pipi Longstocking under the pseudonym Goguma, and released six albums ranging from alternative rock to minimal house. In the following decade, he composed and performed music that uses self-made sound devices for films, fashion shows, dance, theater, and traditional Korean music performances. Living in the Netherlands from 2005 on, he worked as a hardware engineer for STEIM, an electronic instrument R&D center. He returned to Korea in 2011 and has been active as a media artist and related hardware developer, working beyond the boundaries of genre from contemporary art to experimental electro-acoustic music. Through workshops with young artists focusing on new instruments and stage devices he organizes new media performance of generating distinct scenes.
